Kia has something exciting in the pipeline. We know that much from the teaser it released less than two weeks ago. And now it has released another.

Billed as “the fastest-accelerating Kia to date,” the new model is widely expected to take the form of a GT sports sedan. It’ll likely slot size-wise in between the Optima and Cadenza or K900, but with a sportier demeanor – and spritelier performance.

Sources expect the performance sedan, whatever name it ultimately takes, to pack the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Genesis G80, sending about 365 horsepower to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. And from this video clip, we can see that it will run from 0-62 miles per hour in just 5.1 seconds.

That’d put it in line with a base Porsche Panamera, and considerably quicker than the Cee’d GT that’s among the most performance-focused models Kia has produced to date.

Watch this space, as Kia is slated to lift the veil less than a month from now on January 8 at the Detroit Auto Show. And you can bet there’ll be more teasers released between now and then.
