There are many ways of promoting a hot hatch such as the Peugeot 308 GTi, with the French brand choosing to do so by pitting it against the 308 Racing Cup in this new video.

The 308 GTi is in its facelifted form, which carries some visual updates over the current model, as it was revealed two months ago in a single image. These include tweaks made to the grille, front spoiler, side skirts, and new larger wheels, wrapped in low-profile tires.

We still don’t know the output, but the pre-facelifted model uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol unit that’s rated at 270PS (266hp) and 330Nm (243lb-ft) of torque. Naught to 100km/h (62mph) takes 6.0 seconds, and top speed is electronically capped at 250km/h (155mph).

These numbers place the French hot hatch against the Ford Focus ST, and make it more powerful than the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Honda Civic Si, on paper at least, so we expect a small power bump in the latest version, which should be officially unveiled soon.
