Audi has just released a brief teaser video of what appears to be the rear-wheel drive R8 V10 prior to the supercar’s Frankfurt Motor Show debut.

The clip fittingly shows the mid-engine Audi doing a set of impressive donuts and comes just a few days after reports surfaced that a rear-driven R8 was just around the corner.

As the R8 in the video doesn’t feature the rear wing of the V10 Plus, we’re inclined to believe the German brand will only offer rear-wheel drive on the ‘standard’ R8 V10. This would be fitting considering Lamborghini’s RWD Huracan is also the base version in the line-up.

Beyond this model, Audi is expected to premiere an RS4 Avant and an electric and fully-autonomous concept at the event.
