The Mercedes-AMG Project One’s Rear Looks Insane

Mercedes-AMG has released one final teaser image of its Project One hypercar before the Frankfurt Motor Show.

This teaser is the most revealing to date and shows off most of the F1-powered road car’s rear-end. As previous images have revealed, the Project One will feature a large roof scoop while it’ll ditch a rear window in favor of two massive NACA ducts and air vents over the Formula One-derived 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine.

Elsewhere, the teaser offers a glimpse of the hypercar’s taillights and just like a current Formula One car, it features a single central exhaust pipe and two smaller exhausts dedicated for the wastegates.

As we’ve known for some time, the Project One’s F1 engine will be mated to the same energy recovery systems as the race car. Power will soar above 1,000 hp and just 275 units will be produced worldwide.

      • AnklaX

        There’s a fuckton of difference

        • PK

          like what????

          • AnklaX

Central, strange looking exhausts splitting large diffusers, lower, wider, meaner stance, lots of intake on top and the lack of a wing meaning there’s likely an active rear wing hidden from sight.

The next German car to get ate up at the Nurburgring by the Viper.

    • John

      Viper? the car that’s discontinued?

    • Matt

This will eat the Viper alive.

    • Matthew Daraei

      Nice joke! lol

      • Shane

At least someone on here gets humor, it’s like talking to Germans on here.

  • PK

Amazing! Now I wonder what Aston Martin Valkyrie looks like in production….

    • Matt

Haven’t we already seen the production version of the Valkyrie?

      • fabri99

I’m quite sure that we have, indeed.

I’m slowly fearing that the project one might end up being a bit too heavy. Early claims on the AMG Homepage were, aside the 1000hp+ figure, a cerb weight of 1300kg (DIN). With that sort of weight. I could imagine a great battle against the Valkyrie (P1 vs 918 at the next level). Complex AWD for tight circuits vs outright speed and downforce for Highspeed circuits.

However, that weight claim has disappeared (or at least I’m not finding it anymore).

That said, we don’t know how many of the claims and promises the Valkyrie is going to keep.

I’ll guess ill be the first one to just give it up, im excited about this.

  • fabri99

Well, you can’t see much, can you?

  • Olly Lupo Higgins

Boy oh boy! Great times for petrolheads to be alive!

  • Kagan

    Why is it insane!

    • Eythan Aldrich

I think you’re the ones too get out…..

  • Tumbi Mtika

Can’t blame Renault for falling short this time, Red Bull.

  • Tumbi Mtika

  • Looks insane but great !!!
Finally Mercedes did a hypercar for the road !!

  • alecs

Information from MB say that the engine of this car will rev until 11,000 rpm, idle at almost 2000rpm and still worst, this engine will to hold out,50000 km,thanks to its racing origins…too much radical project…

    • Ermal Morina

That’s what hypercars are all about.
