Renault’s Kadjar lineup in the UK has become stronger thanks to the addition of a new petrol engine and a new continuously variable transmission option.

Both are available to order now, as UK deliveries are scheduled to begin later this month.

The new engine is a TCe 165 petrol unit, where 165 is the amount of horsepower produced. Using this engine, the Kadjar TCe 165 can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 9.2 seconds, and max out at 127 mph (204 km/h). The price for a TCe 165 in entry-level Dynamique Nav trim is £22,915.

As for the new Auto X-Tronic CVT gearbox, it’s mated to the Kadjar’s 1.6-liter diesel engine (dCi 130) and costs upwards of £26,015 if you’re getting the car in Dynamique Nav trim. Now, Renault Kadjar customers can choose from a total of four engines and three transmission options across five trim levels.

Renault has also upgraded the range with hands free functionality featuring a keycard with Walkaway Function. The driver can simply keep the key in their bag on pocket, and as they approach the car, its daytime running lights will turn on, the wing mirrors unfold and the car will unlock automatically. Same thing then happens in reverse, as the driver walks away.

UK buyers can purchase the Kadjar starting from £19,785 OTR, although this means getting the entry-level Expression+ TCe 130 model.
