Even though it didn’t exactly fit in a specific segment, the Ferrari 348 needed to be very good once it came out, especially after borrowing from the Testarossa in terms of styling.

Here, Doug DeMuro is looking at a 348 ts, which means it had a Targa roof, unlike the Spider version, which came with a folding roof.

As always, DeMuro is quick to talk about the car’s quirks, such as the stripes across the taillights, the hood release (a positive), the Grand Cherokee-like wheels (couldn’t be helped), the fake front grille, the fuel flap (useful) or the bright orange gauges.

On the move, the 300 HP 3.4-liter V8 engine does it’s job well, even though this is by no means the fastest Ferrari money can buy. However, it seems to be fun to drive (it’s lighter than a Testarossa), the handling is good, and so is visibility.

It’s still not as good as the original NSX when it comes to value for money, but the 348 might not be as disappointing as some people imagine, especially once you get it out on the road.
