An extremely unlucky Tesla owner in Zhubei, Taiwan, has lost their Model Y due to a sinkhole. Video of the event shows the electric vehicle parked on the side of the road, before suddenly falling into the void.

Photos of the sinkhole shared on Twitter show just how luckless the owner was, as the sinkhole is only slightly larger than the Model Y itself. Parked behind another vehicle, and in front of a rank of mopeds, only the Tesla was consumed by the chasm.

In the end, the Tesla landed on its side in the hole, and appears to have fully lost a window. Crews were able to retrieve the lost Model Y and, unsurprisingly, videos of the aftermath show heavy damage to the left side of the crossover.

According to Twitter user @NOTonlywater, who posted photos and videos of the incident, the Model Y was brand new, and on just its fifth drive with its new owner. The pearlescent wrap only serves to further suggest that the crossover was adored by its possessor.

The hole wound up being about 10 feet (3 meters) deep, reports local outlet Liberty Times Net. Residents in the area claim that, although the sinkhole did not appear until around 9:30 a.m., they heard a loud noise at around 5:00 a.m. Whether the two events are related is unclear.

Zhubei was beset by sinkholes last year, with three forming in the same area as this one occurred today. At the time, the local government asked construction crews to stop work in order to assess the cause of the phenomena and perform repair work.
