Automakers left, right, and center have been clamoring to add crossovers to their lineups. And with the likes of Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and Ferrari soon to join in on the action, there’ll be many more to come. But what comes after all the crossovers?

Probably not utility vans, but it never hurts to dream. And dream one designer has in this rather unlikely – if thought-provoking – series of renderings.

The latest work from the prolific automotive artist Nikita Aksyonov is a series of speculative renderings showing what it might look like if some of the least likely auto brands were to get into the big van game.

They envision vans from luxury marques like Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Alfa Romeo, and BMW i… even Porsche and Bugatti (the latter seemingly the least likely of all of them to ever see the proverbial light of day, even if they could squeeze that sixteen-cylinder engine in the back). But there are designs for Skoda and Subaru in there too, which don’t seem quite so outlandish.

In the end, we can’t quite imagine Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Fiat Professional, or the more utilitarian elements from the Renault-Nissan Alliance lending their expertise to their more upscale counterparts.

But then again, if Mercedes can make a business out of selling luxed-up passenger vans at near-Maybach levels of first-class accommodations, we suppose anything’s possible. We just wouldn’t recommend holding your breath for any of them to go up against the Sprinters and Transits of this world anytime soon.
