Audi Q8’s Bold Front End Previewed In New Teaser

Audi has given us yet another glimpse into the upcoming Q8, their very own answer to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

Set to debut on June 5, the upcoming SUV has been teased numerous times over the last few weeks, with the Ingolstadt-based car maker even releasing a short video series.

Nevertheless, the latest teaser is another sketch, showing the front fascia, and comes as a continuation of a previous one that provided a look at its rear end. This is dominated by a sharp and rather large Audi grille, slender LED headlights, creases along the bonnet, a raked windscreen, slim door mirrors and large wheels.

We expect the actual model to be toned down a bit when it arrives a week from today, since these renderings always tend to exaggerate the bodywork lines.

Beneath the skin, Audi has used the MLB Evo platform. The architecture is shared with the latest Q7 and Volkswagen Touareg, as well as with the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus.

Most likely engineers have tuned the suspension and steering for a sportier feel compared to the Q7, but it will be interesting to see what the Q8 feels like compared to its more upscale cousins.

Power should come from different four- and six-cylinder engines. The lineup is believed to include a turbocharged 2.0-liter unit with some 250hp and a V6 rated at 355hp. A PHEV version is also expected, as are the S and RS derivatives, with the latter said to churn out as much as 530hp.

I’ll be glad when Audi gets past this phase. Their designs lack substance. They used to be the best. Now, not so much.

I’m one of the few that seam to like Audi’s design language. Like the subtle and classy aspects. While I do prefer last year’s interiors on some of their models I still prefer the new versions over their competitors.
