McLaren has reportedly confirmed the development of a new hypercar, code-named BC-03, by its MSO division as a one-off special for one of its clients.

The BC-03, which stands for ‘Bespoke Commission 03’, is believed to be inspired by McLaren’s Vision GT concept that was designed for Gran Turismo video game.

The British supercar maker confirmed to Pistonheads an earlier report on the BC-03 by stating: “BC-03 is a bespoke customer commission being created by McLaren Special Operations,” but it didn’t share further details “because the specifics of the project are confidential between MSO and its client”.

The one-off McLaren is expected to be a hardcore, track-focused hypercar that’s probably lighter than the upcoming Speedtail and offer more power than the Senna. It could share the same hybrid powertrain with the Speedtail, which means it will offer over 1,000hp by combining the company’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with front-mounted electric motors.

According to McLaren’s Track25 plan, Sport Series and Super Series models will get hybrid powertrains by 2025 and many of them will be able to run on pure electric power. The upcoming Speedtail and the BC-03 will be the first McLaren models to feature the new hybrid technology the company is working on for the past few years.

The people at Woking are apparently extremely busy, as McLaren seems to have been developing multiple supercars and hypercars at the same time, with the three-seater Speedtail set to be revealed on October 26.
