2020 Genesis G80 Render Is Indicative Of What We Know So Far

With Genesis already hard at work testing next-gen G80 prototypes in the great outdoors, it was about time somebody put together a seemingly accurate rendering of everything we know so far about the upcoming saloon.

For starters, we know designers used the GV80 Concept as inspiration for some of the new G80’s styling characteristics, such as the large, stretched-out, Superman shield-like grille and the quad headlights with two horizontal units per each side. Though one thing we must note is that the grille looks more compact in the actual, real life prototypes than what you see rendered here from Kolesa.

A bold new look

This design is definitely different (and divisive) than what we’ve come to expect from the midsize executive saloon segment, which holds models such as the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF, Volvo S90 and others.

The G80 will definitely stand out among its more traditionally-styled rivals, although whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen – pricing will also play a very important role, of course.

At the rear, prototypes seem to indicate the presence twin light clusters, similar to what we see at the front, and also again like what we saw on the GV80 Concept. However, that might very well be the camouflage speaking, so we certainly can’t rule out a more traditional taillight design.

Other noteworthy styling elements include the sloping roofline, high waist line and door mounted side mirrors, all of which are present in this render.

Genesis will unveil the 2020 G80 this September, with a global rollout expected either towards the end of 2019 or by early next year.

    • StrangerGP

wait 2-3 years and you’ll get an insane deal on an used model

  • ErnieB

Look Cadillac that’s what your CTS should have looked like.

  • StrangerGP

Sorry but I don’t find this new styling attractive.

  • Nastinupe1911

    Meh…

  • Rev360

Atrocious, the CT5 is more attractive than this even with its ugly D pillar. I don’t like this new Genesis design route at all.

  • Subi-Rubicon1

This S**T hurts my eyes to look at!

  • What I know so far is that I won’t buy it.

  • Galaxium

This is an awful render. People have already photoshopped the original spyshots of the new G80, and it looks really promising.

This Nikita person appears to have just overlayed the new design elements on to the body of the old G80.

  • Maykel

Terrible render. Pretty soon you’d see the real thing. SBRU did better renders.

  • Stephen G

    Sonata with a Cadillac grille.

  • Rob

OH I hope this is not what it will look like. It looks like a Bentley and a Volvo S90 had a very ugly baby. 🙁

  • A 🤴🏻 THAT WILL RULE OVER YOU

    A BIG NO

  • SteersUright

Thats just horrible. I really hope this rendering is way off.

  • Astonman

I guess I’m one of the few who likes it.

    • willhaven

      I like it lol

    • donald seymour

I like the idea of the render, but I pray to God that my baby (G80) doesn’t look like this.

      • Astonman

Can’t wait to find out. It’s going to be interesting won’t it?

        • donald seymour

From the just the shape with all the cladding looks intriguing. So, I could only imagine how intriguing the car is in the flesh.

  • charlotteharry57

This can’t be the real thing (and I hope not) because there are no backup lights! I’m OK with the front end (the grille is overkill though), but the sides are “meh” and the rear is fugly.

  • Van Hammer

If, it looks anything like this, the Aztek can breathe a sigh of relief.

    • Andrewthecarguy

      Buhahahahaha

    • donald seymour

I would up-vote you a million times if I could.

    • datbunneh

Really don’t get what you complain about. It actually looks amazing.

    • cbATL

I don’t agree, but your statement is damn funny.

  • Rani

This render looks atrocious. Thankfully I think the design team at Genesis will do us better than that. Here’s one of the better renders I’ve seen. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/08e6da4b3a842ae900b955c74426c61a779272d0fade43955662e9985c2ba073.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e257b1cfe06cffbbcff5f997f032f50ed0690591479e7600dc012042616a10e5.jpg
