Shortly after our eagle-eyed spy photographers snapped a pair of Tesla Model S Plaid prototypes undergoing testing at the Nurburgring, Automotive Mike on YouTube has filmed the duo continue to be put through their paces.

Tesla first brought two examples of the Model S to the German circuit in September in a bid to beat the production EV sedan lap record of the Porsche Taycan. It promised to return with two new prototype equipped with various upgrades in October, and has stayed true to its promise.

Featured first in this clip is a red Model S. It is sitting on a set of wider wheels and tires than the road-going model and also includes an enlarged lip spoiler at the rear as well as large air extractors behind the wider front wheel arches. As for the second prototype, it is painted dark blue and sports an eye-catching rear diffuser.

If Tesla does set a new lap record with one of these prototypes, you can be assured it will trigger quite a lot of debate online, especially if the aerodynamic package featured on the blue prototype isn’t offered to the general public. Also, according to those who’ve got a glimpse of the cars, they feature stripped-out interiors, something Tesla appears to have been keen to hide due to the dark window tinting on both models.
