The time has come for Opel’s compact Corsa to receive the modern Intellink infotainment system, first seen in the Insignia and Astra models.

The R4.0 Intellink system offers the latest in connectivity features, allowing the driver to integrate several smartphone functions via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. The system is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and Apple Ios 7.1.

Connection to the internet is provided by OnStar services via a special antenna fitted to the Opel Corsa, turning the cabin into a 4G/LTE WiFi hotspot. The driver will have the option of choosing between Apple Maps, Google Maps and TomTom’s Go 40 system for his navigation service.

“We do not just offer drivers of middle class or compact class cars the opportunity of enjoying ultra-modern connectivity and infotainment technology. We will make it available across our entire product portfolio at very attractive prices,” said Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales Opel.

The infotainment system uses a seven-inch touchscreen display on the dashboard with USB and Bluetooth interface, bringing your smartphone’s apps into the screen. The WiFi hotspot can hold up to seven mobile devices connected online and is free of charge for the first 12 months, with no additional roaming fees in case you travel abroad.

The new R4.0 Intellink infotainment system costs from €350 (around $370 in current exchange rates) in Germany with the WiFi hardware priced at €490 (around $520 in current exchange rates).
