2017 Honda Fit Goes On Sale In The US From $15,990

The third generation of Honda’s 5-door subcompact hatchback is now just one day away from going on sale in the US in 2017MY form.

In return for $15,990, customers can get the entry-level LX version with a 6-speed manual transmission. This model features auto on-off headlights, LED brake lights, Bluetooth, HandsFreeLink and a center storage console with armrest as standard.

Optional extras across the range include Smart Entry Push Button Start, a one-touch operated moonroof, 7″ touchscreen Display Audio with next-gen HondaLink, as well as heated leather seats. Other changes for the 2017 model year include Lunar Silver metallic replacing the previous Alabaster Silver metallic in the exterior color palette.

Powertrain-wise, the 2017 Fit uses a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with a DOHC cylinder head and i-VTEC & VTC valve and timing controls (as well as direct fuel injection). This is the first time such a system has been used in a Honda subcompact model.

The engine is good for 130 HP and 114 lb-ft (154 Nm) of peak torque at 4,600rpm, with fuel economy figures of 33/40/36 mpg (7.1/5.8/6.5 l/100km) for the LX trim with the CVT transmission and 32/37/34 mpg (7.3/6.3/6.9 l/100km) for the EX and EX-L trim with the CVT. Those that opt for the manual a manual transmission model will be looking at estimated EPA fuel economy ratings of 29/36/32 mpg (8.1/6.5/7.3 l/100km).

In terms of safety, the 2017 Fit features Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control, side curtain airbags with rollover sensor, EBD, Brake assist, plus Honda’s next-gen Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure, all standard across the range.
