Bugatti Said To Have Sold 200 Of 500 Chirons

Less than six months after being unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, it’s emerged that at least 200 people have placed orders for the $2.7 million Bugatti Chiron, reports Car and Driver.

While many high-end exotics sell out almost instantly after being announced, cars from Bugatti have never been like that. It is thought that the French marque had some troubles shifting all 450 units of the Veyron due to the high price tag and astronomical repair and maintenance bills.

The Chiron on the other hand appears to be proving more popular among the privileged elite, perhaps because they’re now familiar with the unrivalled quality of vehicles from Bugatti. Limited to just 500 examples, current waiting lists likely extend beyond three years.

To secure a Chiron, prospective customers have had to put down a fully-refundable 200,000 euro deposit ($226,000), more than the price of some fairly impressive supercars yet not even 10 per cent of a Chiron before options. Staggering when you think about it.

It isn’t known when customer deliveries will commence in earnest but the first few finished cars are expected to trickle through to customers before the end of the year.
