Not many cars owned by the British Royal Family are retained for more than a few years. This Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II, however, is one of them, and it was owned by Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret Rose, the late sister and only sibling of Queen Elizabeth II.

It was delivered new to Kensington Palace, on May 16, 1980, and it remained in its first owner’s possession until 2002, when it took members of her family to her funeral at the St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

After the Princess was gone her son, Viscount Linley, inherited the car and he sold it later. Over the years, this classic Rolls changed hands several times, and it’ll be auctioned off at hammer at SilverstoneAuctions, at the NEC, Birmingham, on November 12. It is in pristine condition both on the outside and in the cabin, except for the torn driver’s seat squab, which is covered by a matching tailored cloth. This hasn’t been repaired because the vendor wanted to keep the interior as original as it can be.

The 36-year old car has been driven for 47,317 miles (76,149 km) and it’s accompanied by what the vendor describes as a “wonderful collection” of photographs, press clippings and other papers that link it to its blue-blooded past, and is expected to fetch between £90,000-£110,000.
