If, for some strange and unearthly reason, you don’t believe that rally drivers are among the most skilled racers in the world, this clip of WRC rally winner Haydon Paddon should convince you.

At the conclusion of Rally Australia, Paddon participated in the VIP ride day and was able to let lose in his 2016 Hyundai i20 race car before it is ditched in favor of the even more outlandish entrant for next year. He then set out for the ultimate slide on the gravel, make for a truly remarkable video.

The Kiwi can be seen entering a tight left hander not only sideways but slightly backwards, in a scene which would make Ken Block proud. The clip goes into slow motion at precisely the right time and shows Paddon clipping the apex before furiously accelerating away and somehow making the corner without incident.

If Ken Block ever wants a helping hand in a future instalment in the Gymkhana franchise, Paddon could be the man for the job.
