Some people often say that you should never buy the entry-level variant of a vehicle, just in case a more expensive version pulls up next to you at the lights.

However, for the two sixth-gen Ford Mustangs in this drag racing video, the opposite turned out to be true.

On paper, the EcoBoost Mustang is massively out-powered by the V8-powered GT model, 310 hp versus 435 hp. This particular Mustang though isn’t an ordinary EcoBoost and has instead benefitted from a multitude of engine upgrades.

When pitted against an identical grey Mustang GT, the turbocharged model managed to take the win, completing the quarter mile in a blistering 11.09 seconds at 122 mph (196 km/h) compared to the 11.74 second run of its bigger brother.

Unfortunately, the owner’s pride soon turned to embarrassment later in the day when the car decided to dump huge amounts of oil on the track. Hey, at least he can tell his friends he beat a GT.
