It seems that keeping your cool and trying to avoid a confrontation with your assailants can help you get out of a sticky situation when involved in a real-life car chase.

The driver of a Subaru Forester almost fell victim to a carjacking last summer in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, after he had just dropped off a friend.

While chased by a red Chrysler 300, the man did his best to escape for a couple of minutes before calling 911 and actually spotting a police car in traffic that he eventually alerted to what was happening.

Shockingly, at that moment, the carjackers make a run for it right past the police car, which engages in a high-speed chase. Unfortunately, according to the description of the video they weren’t caught and the police didn’t manage to get a clear read on the plates either, so they couldn’t investigate the matter any further.

The whole ordeal ends with the man pulling over next to another police cruiser to tell them what had just happened.

By the way, if you stick around till the very last seconds of the clip, you’ll notice another red Chrysler 300 drive past slowly – which must have been quite a spooky coincidence.
