A man in California is facing multiple charges after illegally selling the much-loved 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS owned by his adult son.

Local publication Bakersfield reports that 65-year-old John Dovichi purchased the Camaro in the mid-2000s for him and his son to work on and bond over. Court documents reveal that Dovichi signed the car over to his son in 2008 and a new title was issues in his son’s name on January 11, 2009.

Despite this, John Dovichi sold the Camaro a few years later after forging his son’s signature on DMV papers and has now been charged with six felonies, including grand theft and forgery.

Dovichi has pleaded not guilty to the charges and his lawyer, David A. Torres, claims the allegations from his son, Jonathan Dovichi, come because of an ongoing lawsuit between the pair where the son is accused of “fraudulent actions involving the Camaro and various properties.

In a statement, Torres said “This is nothing more than a desperate and shameful action by Mr. Dovichi’s son to tarnish his father’s impeccable public image. I have the utmost faith in our judicial system and I am certain John Dovichi will be vindicated.”
