Subaru have made more revisions to the Forester family, with the most important one being the addition of the EyeSight.

This is the brand’s advanced driver assist technology, which uses two stereo cameras, mounted on each side of the rear view mirror, to monitor lane markings, other vehicles as well as pedestrians in front.

The EyeSight is basically a semi-autonomous driving system, which works together with Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.

It can take control of the throttle, braking, and steering to help avoid or significantly reduce the severity of high-speed accidents. Moreover, Subaru claims that the technology is developed “to correspond exclusively to the individual country’s traffic conditions”, and it can “lower carbon emissions by reducing incident congestion, and subsequently lower the economic effects of sitting in traffic”.

Subaru’s EyeSight is offered as standard on the XE Lineatronic and XE Premium Lineatronic grades, and it goes on sale from October, in the United Kingdom, priced from £28,995 ($39,211), tax included. These models will also get DAB radio and a black shark fin antenna, at no additional cost.
