Subaru’s advanced collision avoidance technology has been added to every Levorg ordered in the United Kingdom from now on, at no extra cost.

By combining the Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Pre-collision Steering Assist, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning & Sway Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control, the system, known as EyeSight functions “purely optically” as the automaker explains, having two camera lenses mounted on both sides of the rearview mirror which create a stereoscopic image.

Subaru says that this is so reliable that it has the ability to spot pedestrians in un-lit areas, wearing dark clothes and, if needed, it can automatically stop the car. The emergency braking can completely avoid accidents at speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h), with the collision severity able to be reduced at higher speeds.

In fact, the EyeSight is said to be so efficient that a survey conducted on Subaru vehicles in Japan, from 2010 to 2014, revealed a 61 percent reduction in crashes for cars equipped with the system compared to those that lacked it.
