Volvo has big things in store for Polestar – and the first of them will be revealed less than a week from now.

Having first acquired the performance division from its associated racing team, Volvo has now spun Polestar back off again, this time with a focus on performance-oriented electric vehicles.

The newly repurposed sub-brand is set to unveil its first model at a dedicated event in Shanghai next Tuesday, October 17. The location may seem an odd choice for a Swedish company, but China is where its parent company Geely is based – albeit in another city: namely Hangzhou, in the Zhejiang province.

Location aside, it’ll be interesting to see what Polestar has in store… especially with input from established automakers like Volvo, Lotus, and the London Electric Vehicle Company under the same umbrella.

Unfortunately this teaser video gives us little else to go on aside from the reveal date and location, but you can bet we’ll be watching to see the emergence of the first in a new line of vehicles from the same country that’s already given us the likes of Saab and Koenigsegg.
