If these scoop pictures remind you of something, it is because the white-bodied prototype SLS AMG model you see here is almost identical to the black-colored tester we showed you last month and which we then wrongly believed to be a mule for the upcoming SLC AMG.

As it turns out, both the white and black testers are prototypes for the SLS AMG ‘Gullwing’ Black Series Edition that builds upon the regular model adding a whole lot of performance upgrades.

For starters, the SLS AMG’s revised 6.3-liter V8 lump that produces 583hp (591PS) at 6,800rpm and 650Nm (479 lb-ft) at 4,750rpm in standard trim will be modified to deliver possibly as much as 650-horses.

A faster transmission and a beefed up braking system along with a more hardcore tuning of the suspension will enhance the sports car’s handling and performance.

The spy pictures of the prototype also suggest that Mercedes-Benz will adorn the Black Series Edition with an aggressive looking wide body kit.

We will likely see the flagship version of the SLS AMG series making its debut before the end of the year.
