British parents looking to introduce their youngsters to the marvelous world of motorsports have a new option in the guise of Caterman’s low-cost karting championship at the heart of which is the CK-01 kart, a prototype of which is on display at the AutoSport International at Birmingham’s NEC from January 10 to 13.

The new entry-level series from Caterham Motorsports will be open to novices only and is aimed at a maximum of 120 youngsters aged between 13 and 16.

Priced at £4,995+VAT (~US$8,000 or €6,200 plus tax), the all-inclusive season package includes the race-ready CK-01 kart, guidance through the acquisition of an ARKS race license, a paddock trolley, entry to the six-event season and technical support.

According to Caterham, each event will be held on a single day at circuits across the UK, and will include practice sessions, qualifying and points-scoring races.

Caterham Group CEO, Tony Fernandes, commented: “Caterham Karting will once again make this fantastic sport accessible to everyone, without losing any element of the competition and experience. In fact, with tight regulations and totally transparent, controlled costs, Caterham Karting will simply be the best value, most competitive and most fun karting in the world.”

The inaugural championship will kick off early next year, with more details to be released during the course of 2013.
