The much anticipated Coupe version of the new C-Class came out recently in AMG form, and Mercedes have been raving about it, saying it has a boatload of upgrades over the regular model.

Yes, it’s arguably gorgeous to stare at as well, but since these types of preferences can differ from one person to the next, the only constant remains the fact that it will run like the wind when pointed towards the horizon.

Sure, the regular C-Class Coupe is worth admiring too, and you can check it out some more in the gallery, but what most people tend to talk about with this car is just how fast the 510 PS AMG S version is. It can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds, partly thanks to its AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission.

The fact that it will out-sprint the M4 by 0.2 seconds is probably irrelevant, but the considerable difference in peak torque most definitely isn’t. The Merc packs 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) to the Bimmer’s 550 Nm (405 lb-ft), and that sort of thing matters when you’re pulling out of a corner, or drag racing from a rolling start. Of course, the M4 is lighter on its feet but that’s kind of always been the case with these M Division vs. AMG battles.

So while some people may have preferred looking for the new S-Class Cabrio while in Frankfurt, those of us who’d rather have a more agile car instead of a big luxury car, definitely shifted their focus to the C63 Coupe.
