Nissan Launches New Tiida Hatch And Maxima In China

This is the face of China’s new Nissan Tiida compact hatch based on a subtly revised version of the European market Pulsar. It made its debut today at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show with the Japanese carmaker to start accepting pre-orders this week.

For the Chinese market, Nissan turned the Pulsar into the Tiida by gracing it with a new grille similar in design to the one used on the latest Maxima sedan, together with restyled bumpers on both ends, while inside, apart from the elevated equipment levels that include leather surfacing on some editions, it also gets market-specific 7-inch infotainment system.

The Chinese Tiida will launch only with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine rated for 126hp (131PS) and 154Nm (114 lb-ft) of peak torque, coupled to Nissan’s Intelligent Start and Stop system and an improved Xtronic CVT, but a more modern 1.2-liter turbocharged four may join the range next year.

At the Beijing show, Nissan announced the launch of sales of its new Maxima sedan priced from RMB 234,800 or about $38,000, while it also brought along the IDS Concept from last year’s Tokyo motor show.
