Updated 2017 Buick Encore Hits The Chinese Market

Following its unveiling at the New York Auto Show in late March, the facelifted Buick Encore is now available in China too.

It comes with the same exterior features as its North American twin that include a new grille, wing-shaped LED headlights and taillights, roof-mounted luggage rack and new 18-inch rims.

Inside, it benefits from red Alcantara suede with French double-stitching, a revised center console, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a new 7-inch touch screen display, adding up to what Buick describes to be a cabin “on par with interiors in the upper-medium passenger cars”.

Some of the features available, depending on the selected model, include new-gen IntelliLink infotainment system, navigation, voice control, cruise control, keyless entry and go, remote engine start, tire pressure monitoring, heated side mirrors and anti-dazzle rearview mirror. Headroom and rear legroom stand at 986 mm (38.8 in) and 908 mm (35.7 in), while the cargo space provides up to 1,372 liters (48.45 cubic feet), with the rear seats flat down.

Power comes from the same 1.4-liter turbocharged engine used on the North American version, rated at 138 HP and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque, paired to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed auto. All variants come with stop/start technology and AWD is available on high specs. Prices for the compact SUV start from RMB 139,900 ($21,230) in the People’s Republic and can reach up to RMB 189,900 ($28,815).
