Toyota GR Supra GT Concept Teased Ahead Of Tokyo Auto Salon

At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Toyota brought the new-gen Supra closer to production by unveiling the GR Supra Racing Concept. However, it seems that the Japanese automaker is not quite done with exploring the range of the upcoming sports car, as they have now announced another study.

Called the Toyota GR Supra GT Concept, it will premiere at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, between January 11 and 13.

The only thing announcing its presence at the event, besides the very basic press release, is a teaser image. It shows the profile of the car, featuring a large rear wing sitting on the boot lid and a generously-sized diffuser, along with what seems to be a special color scheme on the outside.

Joining Toyota’s new GR Supra GT Concept at the 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon will be the Lexus LC Nurburgring-spec, Yaris WRC and TS050 Hybrid, as well as a Supra that participated in past domestic races. From this lot, the LC, Yaris and TS050 Hybrid are expected to compete in top-level races next year.

Meanwhile, the production-spec 2020 Toyota Supra will celebrate its world premiere at the Detroit Auto Show, on January 14. Magna Steyr will be in charge of putting it together in Austria starting in the first half of next year, as the iconic nameplate will be reborn in the same facility as the 2019 BMW Z4.

Just show the friggin car already, in January it will be 5 years since the reveal of the FT-1 concept and the Supra won’t be that much different…

  • interesting..

  • Christian

can’t wait to play this on GT7 in 2030… with all the outdatet cars

  • Infinite1

So many teasers, I hope it’s not disappointing

  • SpongeBob99Swell

Please Toyota, for the love of Karl Benz…

…show us the final product already.

Okay sure, that won’t take place until the NAIAS next month and I am patient enough to wait, but… another concept? I know, judging by this teaser it will be really cool, but… I would honestly much rather see you guys teaser the final product again. (especially given the early sneek peak launched by this end of this past October):

    • Jason Miller

This is likely their 2019 Super GT GT500 contender so I wouldn’t say it’s teasing the production car any more.

  • K X J I ⚪️

In my opinion Toyota milked the announcement of the Supra so much nobody cares about it.

    • SpongeBob99Swell

Apparently, so much so that even CarAndDriver is also getting sick and tired of it.

  • Knotmyrealname

    It’s official:
    I no longer care.

  • Harry_Wild

Nobody cares with the smallish size and $50K price tag!

    • SteersUright

Especially given that all of the Z4 reviews have been so lackluster.

  • Toronado_II

    Please, oh please: STOP !
I don’t care about that car…. I’m so tired of every news who don’t tell anything…

  • Mr. EP9

    Oh look, another one.
