There’s a new range-topping Audi Q7 in the United States and it’s called the SQ7.

Unlike the European model that wears the same moniker, America’s 2020 Audi SQ7 does not use a turbodiesel engine. Instead, U.S. buyers get a 4.0-liter TFSI V8 gasoline power plant rated at 500 HP (507 PS) and 568 lb-ft (769 Nm) of torque.

The twin-turbo V8 is hooked to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via the quattro all-wheel-drive system. With this kind of power, it’s little wonder the big luxury SUV can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds.

For enhanced dynamics and comfort, the Audi SQ7 comes standard with an S-tuned adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering. Audi also offers the optional Sport Package which includes Active roll stabilization, quattro with sport differential and red brake calipers.

Besides SQ7 badging, you’ll be able to recognize the top-dog 2020 Audi Q7 model thanks to the S-specific design. This includes S-model bumpers with integrated front splitter, platinum double-slat Singleframe grille, Alu-optic mirror caps, S-specific quad tailpipes and a rear diffuser inlay. The SQ7 also comes standard with twin V-spoke 21-inch alloys with a dual-tone finish shod with summer performance tires.

The 2020 Audi SQ7 looks more dynamic inside as well thanks to the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles and S emblem, heated S sport front seats with eight-way power adjustment, Valcona leather upholstery with diamond stitching, and gray oak high-gloss wood interior inlays.

As you can imagine, the Audi SQ7 is fully loaded with features such as the new MMI touch response system with two large touch displays, Audi virtual cockpit, 3D surround sound system with 19 speakers and 15-channel amplifier, adaptive cruise assist, emergency assist and more.

At the end of the day, the 2020 Audi SQ7 remains a Q7 at it core which means it’s very practical too. It comes with seven seats, including split tumble-folding 35/30/35 second row with fore/aft position and seat back angle adjustments, as well as power 50/50 split-folding third-row seats with electric fold and return functions.

Prices start from $84,800 for the Premium Plus trim and $90,400 for the Prestige model (excluding $995 destination charge).
