A couple of months after being spied in Michigan, Ford’s mysterious new crossover has been spotted undergoing cold weather testing in Northern Europe.

Still dressed in heavy camouflage, the model is unmistakably a Ford as it features a mesh grille with a prominent Blue Oval. It’s flanked by LED headlights and a thin central intake.

Additional details are hard to make out, but we can see flush-mounted door handles and an upward sweeping beltline. The model also sports a panoramic glass sunroof, a sloping roof, and a sizable front overhang.

There isn’t much to see out back, but the crossover features a liftgate-mounted spoiler and a rounded bumper that lacks exhaust cutouts. We can also see temporary taillights that might be connected by a thick bar.

Ford has been tight-lipped about the model, but the crossover shares a number of cues with the Chinese Equator and could be the rumored Fusion / Mondeo Active. That remains to be seen, but the model appears to slot in between the Escape / Kuga and Explorer. The crossover also appears large enough to have a third-row seat and this suggests it will battle seven-seaters such as the GMC Acadia in America.

Plenty of questions remain, but we might get answers in the coming months as the model is expected to debut late this year or in early 2023.
