Good morning and welcome to our weekly digest of automotive news from around the globe, starting with…

Paris Motor Show Returns

This year the Paris Motor Show returned for the first time since 2018. There’s no doubt that the COVID-induced hiatus has taken its toll on the motorshow, with only a handful of new releases displayed. Still, there were a few of note, including the hydrogen-powered Hopium Machina, a first look at the 2023 Jeep Avenger, and the Alpine Alpenglow concept.

2024 Rolls Royce Spectre EV Is A 6500-LBS Luxury Land Yacht With A 320-Mile Range

The first-ever electric Rolls Royce is here, with a rather porky curb weight of  6,559 lbs (2,975 kg) but a fairly respectable 0–60 mph (0–96 km/h) time of 4.4 seconds. Although the exact battery specs haven’t yet been revealed, we know the Spectre gets a 320-mile (520 km) WLTP electric range. The swoopy coupe body style looks to take inspiration from speedboats, in addition to the traditional designs of the Wraith and Phantom coupe. Pricing will be announced closer to its late-2023 delivery date but will slot in between the $350k Cullinan SUV and $460k Phantom limo.

2024 Cadillac Celestiq Flagship EV Debuts With 600 HP, 300 Miles Of Range And $300,000+ Price Tag

Hoping to steal the Rolls Royce’s thunder is the similarly-priced 2024 Cadillac Celestiq, a $300,000+ return to opulence for the brand — only this time in an all-electric fashion. The Celestiq features a 111 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing an estimated 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS) and 640 lb-ft (867 Nm) of torque. It also displays a multitude of features that aim to make the ride as comfortable as possible, but lacks the kind of DC charging speeds one might want in an EV at this price point.

2024 Mercedes EQE SUV Offers A Range Of 370 Miles And Tech For Days, And 2024 Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV Delivers Up To 687 HP At The Expense Of Range

The 2024 Mercedes EQE SUV joins the EQE Sedan in the brand’s electric portfolio. The EQE SUV actually has a shorter wheelbase than the EQE Sedan, which Mercedes says gives the car agility, but seems to compromise interior space. Inside, you get the massive MBUX Hyperscreen as an option, while under the metal are two- and all-wheel drive powertrains with up to 370 miles of range. For those wanting a bit more power, there are two AMG versions, with the flagship 2024 Mercedes-AMG 53 EQE SUV delivering 687 hp and up to 1000 Nm of torque.

2023 Jeep Avenger Detailed As A FWD Electric SUV For Europe, ICE Variant Coming Soon

If you’re reading this in North America, you won’t be getting the Jeep Avenger, which is a small front-wheel drive electric offering explicitly designed for the European market. There’s a turbo charged ICE variant in the works too, but as yet there’s no news on the production version of all-wheel drive version. At the Paris Motor Show, Jeep did however bring along a concept of the Avenger 4×4, sporting chunkier looks for the baby SUV.

2023 Hyundai Grandeur/Azera Unveiled In Korea With Almost Genesis Levels Of Luxury

Hyundai has introduced South Korea to the all-new 2023 Grandeur sedan, a model which is also known as the Azera outside its home market. The Grandeur features a full LED lightbar at the front, with a full-length grille and headlights positioned right underneath. The wheelbase is long, giving the sedan low and purposeful proportions, while at the back there’s another lightbar for the taillights. The cabin is as luxurious as you’d expect if perhaps a notch below some of the offerings from Genesis.
