- Only 100 units of the LBX Morizo RR Original Edition will be produced for Japan.
- Most buyers must enter a lottery for a chance to purchase one of the rare SUVs.
- The Original Edition features Sonic Chrome paint and yellow trim accents.
Scoring a Lexus LBX Morizo RR that mirrors the one driven by Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda doesn’t come cheap. Just a month after the automaker pulled the wraps off the special Morizo RR Original Edition, it’s now confirmed that all 100 units set for production will start at 7.3 million yen, or about $49,600.
This special version of the LBX doesn’t benefit from any performance upgrades over the standard model, nor does it need them. Where it does stand out is with the exterior and interior configuration, largely mimicking the look of the original Morizo RR Concept Car.

The body has been adorned in a special Sonic Chrome paint alongside bright yellow highlights on the front end and matching yellow brake calipers. Akio Toyoda’s personal Morizo RR has the same color combination.
While the exterior is relatively subtle, other than the yellow parts, the interior is much more outlandish. All Original Edition cars feature dark brown leather on the seats, door panels, steering wheel, and dashboard.
Adding to the sporty vibe of the cabin are black centers on the seats and yellow seatbelts, matching the exterior trim. And of course, there’s a special badge on the dash.
Limited Availability and Lottery-Based Sales
Just 100 examples are being built, and of these, 70 have already been drawn from lottery applications made at dealerships across Japan. The remaining 30 units will be offered to the general public, although locking in an order won’t be easy.
The base LBX Morizo RR starts at 5,990,400 yen (around $40,600) in Japan, making the Original Edition a considerable step up in price.
All LBX Morizo RR models use the same 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder as the GR Yaris and GR Corolla. This engine is good for 300 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, sending power through all four wheels. All models, including the new Original Edition, are available with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.
