• Caterham refreshes the Seven with styling and interior updates.
  • New paint finishes and leather seats are added at no extra cost.
  • Updates arrive as the electric Project V moves closer to production.

Caterham is proving that even a 50-year-old icon can learn new tricks. The British automaker has announced a series of visual and interior updates for the iconic Seven, while retaining the same prices across the lineup.

The 2026 model year updates focus on keeping the Seven fresh, while improving its standard equipment. On the outside, the “Clear Lens Pack” makes the round headlights look more modern, while the headlight casing and the roll bar gain a body-colored finish (instead of black).

Furthermore, Caterham has expanded the color palette with eight new paint finishes. Options include the standard Poppy Red and Blacksmith shades, the premium Earl Grade, and the exclusive Sunset Riot, Heritage Sage, Chainmail Silver, Viola Parsifae, and Ice Forest Green. The latter was first shown on the fully electric Project V.

The interior has been enhanced with a new pair of leather seats for the S-pack trim (optional for the R-pack) featuring Seven embroidery on the backrest. Furthermore, both the S- and R-pack models come standard with a black leather tunnel top.

Finally, there are a few no-cost options, including the sportier 620 nosecone that can be fitted to all Seven variants, along with amber indicators, black or chrome headlight casings, and back roll bars.

Powertrain Lineup Unchanged

The powertrain lineup comprises the turbocharged 660cc Suzuki engine and the 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine in naturally aspirated and supercharged forms. Outputs range from 84 hp (62 kW / 85 PS) in the base Seven 170 to as much as 310 hp (228 kW / 314 PS) in the flagship Seven 620.

It’s worth noting that the company was recently forced to bid farewell to its most powerful naturally aspirated models in Europe and Japan with the Seven 485 and 485 CSR Final Editions.

But as one door closes, another opens. Last month, Caterham unveiled a development prototype of the fully electric Project V, first shown in concept form back in 2023. The zero-emission sports car is slowly moving towards production and will also become available in the US market.
