• Lamborghini has begun testing the new Revuelto SV.
  • Model will have an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain.
  • There will also be aerodynamic tweaks and weight savings.

Spy photographers recently snapped the Lamborghini Temerario Spyder and now they’ve nabbed the first pictures of the Revuelto SV. The automaker didn’t even try to hide that fact as the prototype eschews traditional camouflage and wears “Attenzione Macchina Veloce” messaging.

The latter translates to “Caution: Fast Machine” and is a not so subtle way of announcing the return of the Super Veloce. That’s a worthwhile warning as the standard model has a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, three electric motors, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a lithium-ion battery pack. This gives the plug-in hybrid supercar a combined output of 1,001 hp (747 kW / 1,015 PS) as well as a top speed in excess of 217 mph (350 km/h).

The Revuelto SV will be even more powerful. To put it into context, the Aventador SV produced 740 hp (552 kW / 750 PS). That was 49 hp (37 kW / 50 PS) more than the regular model, while the lineup would eventually expand to include an Aventador SVJ with 759 hp (566 kW / 770 PS).

While it’s too early to say what the Revuelto SV will be rated at, speculation suggests we can expect an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain producing around 1,184 hp (883 kW / 1,200 PS). We’re taking that number with a grain of salt as historical precedence would suggest a much smaller increase.

Powertrain aside, the Revuelto SV sports a unique front bumper and a pronounced splitter. We can also see new triangular air intakes and revised support bars.

The profile appears to largely carryover, but a closer inspection reveals a new side-mounted fin behind the front wheels. We can also expect the production model to ride on lightweight wheels that are unique to the SV.

Continuing to the rear, the prototype has been equipped with a sizable wing and new vents above the taillights. We can also get a glimpse of a revised exhaust system that features circular tips inside a hexagonal surround. The aggressive diffuser appears to carryover from the standard model, although that might change for production.

Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside, but the SV should sport a familiar cabin with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8.4-inch infotainment system. That being said, we can likely expect a number of weight saving measures including lightweight sport seats as well as the removal of carpeting and sound deadening material. The SV could also eschew some superfluous features such as the 9.1-inch front passenger display.
