They are having quite a busy schedule those guys in Stuttgart, with the recently launched C-Class Coupe and the next-gen E-Class getting ready for next year.
One other issue in their agenda is the CLA premium compact, a car that sold 100,000 units globally in its first year and was labeled by Mercedes-Benz itself as “the best launch” they ever had.
Having made its debut at the 2013 NAIAS, its mid-life cycle facelift is just around the corner. Nigh a week after the saloon, we now have images of the estate Shooting Brake doing the rounds.
Due for launch in 2016, it will – unsurprisingly – sport the same, restrained cosmetic changes as its four-door sibling. Namely, a revised front fascia with redesigned headlights (LEDs will be an option on base models and standard on the range-topping AMG), slightly different grille and front bumper. Though it’s not visible on this particular prototype, the same goes for the rear, with revised graphics for the taillights and a redesigned bumper.
In the cabin, expect a refreshed instrument binnacle, new steering wheel, upgraded infotainment system sporting a larger screen and new front seats.
A revised engine range with more power and at the same time lower consumption and CO2 emissions will be available, topped by the CLA 45 AMG that’s powered by the 2.0-liter turbocharged four which is pumping out 381PS (376hp) and 475Nm (350 lb-ft) of peak torque and is already available in Europe.
