Skoda has ended teasing game of the VisionS by officially pulling the wraps off the concept's body, ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut, on March 1.
The study incorporates the company's new design language, which "is influenced by Czech Cubism and the tradition of Bohemian crystal art" - or so it says...
It has sharp lines, slim headlights with LED DRLs, the firm's signature grille, bulging hood, new design for the taillights, plastic body cladding for that "rugged" look, clean tailgate with what seems to be a wide LED light strip sitting right above the new diffuser that incorporates dual exhaust pipes.
The VisionS features a plug-in hybrid unit, which uses a 1.4-liter TSI with 156PS (154hp) and 250Nm (lb-ft) of torque along with an e-motor that provides 55PS (54hp) 40kW and 220Nm (162lb-ft) integrated into the six-speed DSG that directs power to the front wheels.
The rear wheels are driven by a second electric motor, with 116PS (114hp) 85kW and 270Nm (199lb-ft) thatworks independently of the front axle, meaning the show car benefits from "smart" four-wheel drive with no mechanical coupling. The 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint takes 7.4 seconds and top speed nudges 200km/h (124mph).
Skoda claims the VisionS can travel up to 50km (31miles) on electric power alone, thanks to the 12.4kWh lithium-ion battery positioned in front of the rear axle, and when the petrol engine kicks in, 1,000 km (621 miles). Fuel consumption is as low as 1.9L/100km (123.8mpg US) and CO2 emissions stand at 45g/km.
The concept is 4.70 meters long, 1.91 meters wide and 1.68 meters tall, with a 2.79 meters wheelbase. Skoda's first vehicle to feature six seats across three rows and it previews a future SUV that's expected to bear the Kodiak moniker and debut at the Paris Auto Show.
