Chris Harris Buys BMW 1M Coupe, Pays 'Crazy Money' For It

Testing cars for Top Gear and racing for Bentley in Blancpain have opened Chris Harris' appetite for horsepower, as he ended up spending some serious cash on a used BMW 1M Coupe.

Monkey, who is no stranger to welcoming Porsches and Ferraris into his garage, is now enjoying the 335HP and 450Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque produced by the 3.0-liter twin-turbo, straight-six engine that sets the 1M in motion and allows it to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds and up to a top (limited) speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

"Always wanted a 1M. Prefer it to the M2, and yes, I paid crazy money for it, but that seems to be the price of them now. Small, angry, ace", the British automotive journalist wrote on Twitter.

Harris may be keeping the cost of his latest ride a secret, but doing some research over the web has revealed that usually these cars sell for anything between $50,000 and $60,000, which is roughly the same as a new M2, which carries an MSRP of $51,700 in the USA.

As for the production numbers, BMW was initially looking into 2,700 units, but due to the high popularity of the small M car, they ended up producing 6,309 cars, out of which, officially, 740 were sold in the US and another 220 in Canada.
