There is absolutely no logical reason of putting these two models face each other on a straight line but for pure entertainment purposes.

You could argue that both the Focus RS and the Mustang GT are really closely priced in the UK market, therefore some customers might have difficulties on which one to choose. Top Gear magazine is here to make these customers’ choice a little bit easier.

Joking aside, these two are tremendously different performance models; the one is a classic, rear-drive two-door coupe with a big V8 up front sending power to the rear and the other is a five-door hatchback that happens to have one of the most entertaining AWD systems in the world, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a trick setup for proper hooning.

RHD Mustang GTs produce 425hp from their 5.0-litre V8s while the Ford Focus RS manages to squeeze 345hp out of its 2.3-litre EcoBoost unit. Both of them are manual, but the AWD system in the Focus should give it the edge over the more powerful Mustang off the line.
