Production of the hardcore BMW M4 GTS has come to a close with Bimmer Post reporting that 830 examples were built.

It is reported that of that 830, a total of 803 are customer cars while the others are pre-production, press and demo cars. This is in contrast to BMW claiming at the vehicle’s launch that only 700 units were bound for customers hands.

BMW isn’t the only car manufacturer to have altered production figures of limited edition models. If you believe insiders, many firms actually produce more vehicles than they publicly claim. Others can actually build less (think Lamborghini Murcielago SV).

Based on what we’ve heard about the M4 GTS, we can’t imagine many owners being upset at the slight increase in production. After all, the model uses an upgraded 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine delivering 493 hp and mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The M4 GTS is also the first production car to use a water injection system.
