The Fate of the Furious is getting its digital release and Michelle Rodriguez grabbed the opportunity to issue a warning: if the producers won’t start showing women more love, she may have to quit.

On her official Instagram profile Rodriguez expressed her feelings on the franchise, threatening to leave Fast and Furious over sexism.

The movie franchise has well established itself as being one of Hollywood’s most masculine series, despite having powerful female characters starring on every installment. In the Fast and Furious universe, women are also getting way less screen time than their male counterparts do.

“I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise,” the actress wrote on her Instagram post.

It’s not the first time Rodriguez has expressed her concern about the macho vibe of the franchise, saying in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“On day one, I [changed] the character from being something that I could not do in front of millions of people into a character that I’m actually proud of, but at the end of the day, what message are we sending out there for women? It does weigh heavy on my head — especially in the male-dominated environment that I work in.”

H/T To Fusion!

F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It’s been a good ride & Im grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years… One Love ??❤️???✨???
