Daimler chief executive Dieter Zetsche has confirmed that Mercedes-Benz will offer electrified versions of all its models by 2022.

Dieter made the revelation the night before the Frankfurt Motor Show opened its door to the media and said that in the foreseeable future, there will be at least 50 electrified vehicles in the automaker’s extensive model range.

Additionally, Daimler’s head honcho said that the Smart brand will only offer all-electric models by 2020.

This announcement from Mercedes comes shortly after numerous other automakers have made commitments to electrify their ranges. Volvo will become the first traditional automaker to only sell hybrid and electric vehicles when it does so by 2019. Jaguar intends on doing the same by 2020.
