Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 is reporting that Alfa Romeo’s CEO Antonio Baravelle has handed in his resignation to Fiat Group officers. The report claims that the 42-year-old exec will become CEO of Einaudi, the publishing house of Italy’s Mondadori media group. Fiat has yet to issue a press release.

Baravalle, a graduate in mathematics and physics, came to Fiat in 1999 were he held numerous marketing positions before being appointed as head of marketing at Alfa Romeo in September 2003. In November 2004 he was promoted to head Lancia, succeeding Luca de Meo while in Spetmeber 2005, he took over the reigns of Alfa Romeo from Karl-Heinz Kalbfell.
