After its international public debut at the Geneva Salon last spring, the new Lanica Thema will be making one more appearance at the 64th International Motor Show in Frankfurt next month before it goes on sale across Europe in October.

Lancia’s contribution to the transformation of the Chrysler 300 to the Thema is restricted to the Italian brand’s badges, plus the higher quality materials and different trim options for the interior.

When it reaches European dealerships in October, the rear-wheel drive Lancia Thema will be offered in three trim levels – Gold, Platinum and Executive – and a choice of three engines including a 286HP 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the 190 HP or 239 HP 3.0-lite V6 diesels, both fitted with a 5-speed auto.

The Fiat Group says Lancia’s flagship model will offer European buyers “a genuine alternative” in the executive segment.

The Italian company goes on to say that, “this global flagship combines the classically American features of size, comfort and presence on the road with the “Made in Italy” craftsmanship, the cocooning silence of the large Lancias and the quality of materials and fabrics that elegantly “clothe” the most advanced technology serving comfort and safety.”

European pricing, which will perhaps play the most important role in determining the success or failure of the Thema, will be announced during or right after the Frankfurt motor show.
