The diesel-powered Nissan Qashqai 1.5 DCi is at Superchip’s center of attention as the British tuning brand has created an ECU remap to boost the crossover model’s performance.

In factory trim, the Qashqai’s Renault-sourced 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel develops a peak output of 108bhp (110PS) at 4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 240Nm (177 lb-ft).

Superchip’s updated firmware claims to lift these numbers to 128bhp (130PS) at 3,721 rpm and 277Nm (204 lb-ft) at 2,259rpm.

“The 1.5 DCi unit pulls harder throughout the rev range, feeling considerably more responsive, urgent and willing, making overtaking, fast cruising and towing a pleasurable experience,” says Superchips.

The tuner adds that according to its own independent tests, “by optimising the ECU’s settings and increasing the low speed torque output, fuel consumption improves by up to 7%”.

The ECU update is priced at £399 in the UK and can be fitted on Nissan Qashqai 1.5 DCi (110 PS) models manufactured from September 2010 and onwards.
