It always pleasant to report about the creation of new jobs, but much more so in the midst of an economic crisis that has engulfed the whole of Europe.
The news comes from the Jaguar Land Rover group (JLR), which announced today that it will expand its workforce at its manufacturing facility in Castle Bromwich, UK, to support the launch of new Jaguar models including the XF Sportbrake that goes on sale at the end of 2012.
The Tata Motors-controlled automaker said that more than 1,100 new jobs are being created, adding that a recruitment campaign for production operators was launched on Wednesday.
“We have embarked on the most ambitious recruitment campaign in the company’s history, hiring 8,000 people in the last two years,” commented Des Thurlby, HR Director at JLR.
“We provide high quality training and development for all of our employees so this latest announcement for 1,100 jobs is great news for the West Midlands and the UK supply chain.”
During the first six months of the year, Jaguar has sold more than 29,000 vehicles globally representing a 19 per cent increase over the same period last year. According to Jaguar, all key markets, including China, UK, USA and Europe, have delivered year on year sales improvements.
