Set to make its world premiere alongside Abflug’s comprehensive tune of the Toyota 86 coupe (Scion FR-S) at the upcoming 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon in January will be a new package from the Japanese tuner for the previous generation Mercedes-Benz SL roadster (R230), built from 2001 through 2011.

Seen here in drawings, the package is named R230 Platinum and it includes an extensive makeover of the SL’s body along with select upgrades for the chassis, while leaving the engine(s) intact.

Abflug’s designers drew up plans for a wide body kit that significantly alters the appearance of the German luxury roadster model, especially up front where the R230 Platinum replaces everything expect the stock headlamps.

The new nose is accompanied by wider front and rear fenders with matching side skirts housing air vents on both ends, a new rear bumper with huge outlets and a diffuser, plus a boot lid spoiler.

The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels finished in black and wrapped in Falken performance tires size 255/30R20 on the front axle and 305/25R20 on the rear.

A suspension upgrade rounds out Abflug’s R230 Platinum proposition.
