With the internet abuzz about the seventh generation Corvette Stingray, General Motors wants to take advantage of all the hype surrounding its new sports car, all for good reason, though, as it donated the first issue of a limited edition run of press kits to the American Cancer Society (ACS), which is auctioning them off on eBay as we speak. All proceeds from the sale will help raise funds for the organization’s fight against cancer.

An email we received from a GM spokesperson detailed the press kits:

“The press kit to be auctioned off will be from the invite-only reveal of the all-new Corvette and will include one-of-a-kind features, including:

  • Signatures from key GM executives
  • A commemorative plaque
  • Printed color booklet
  • USB jump drive w/ additional product images and information”

However, GM and the American Cancer Society aren’t the only ones auctioning off the press kits of the new Stingray; as reported by Jalopnik, some crafty journalists or people working directly or indirectly for GM and who got their hands on the free press kits have also put them up for auction on eBay!

Last we checked, the highest bid on one was $305, while the other one is listed with a ‘Buy it Now’ price of $999! As for the official auction from ACS, the highest bid was $961.
