A little over two years after Chrysler recalled 9,688 Dodge Charger Police Cars in February of 2012 to address an issue with the headlamp wiring (along with one more separate problem), and even though at the time it said no civilian cars were affected, the Detroit carmaker is now expanding the recall to include 49,400 civilian Chargers from the 2011 and 2012 model years.

The company said it will take a look at the headlamp jumper harnesses and bulbs, and headlight assemblies of cars fitted with halogen units, and if necessary, replace them free of charge.

The recall affects approximately 43,450 Chargers in the States, 2,850 in Canada, 375 in Mexico and 2,700 outside the NAFTA region.

“Chrysler Group was not aware of any related injuries or accidents in the 2012 campaign, nor is the Company aware of any injuries or accidents involving the current recall,” the automaker said in a statement.
