After taking a controlling stake in Russia’s automotive firm AvtoVAZ, better known as Lada, the Renault-Nissan Alliance has opened the doors to a brave new world of re-badged models.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the French-Japanese group introduced the new Datsun on-Do sedan based on AvtoVAZ’s Lada Granta, and now, courtesy of our Russian friends at Wroom, we have some of the first scoop shots of the next Datsun-badged Lada, reportedly called mi-Do.
It’s a five-door supermini based on the Lada Kalina, which itself, is the hatchback variant of the Granta, and hence, of the Datsun on-Do as well.
The differences between the Kalina and the mi-Do will mainly be cosmetic with the Japanese brand’s model gaining the same face and interior as the on-Do sedan, along with a bespoke treatment at the back.
The official introduction of the Russian-market mi-Do is expected to take place at the Moscow International Automobile Salon in August.
